Navman New Zealand

Amstar helped achieve a caterpillar-to-butterfly transformation of the offices of global positioning company Navman. The existing warehouse and office space was transformed into a dynamic new open-plan office that reflected the company's hi-tech products.

Amstar had to deal with a diverse range of disciplines for this project. The building's interior had been demolished and the refit started anew. The double-height warehouse with its mezzanine floor was married to the three levels of the office space at the front of the building.

The new fitout designed by Tony Gracie of Gracie Architecture features a nautical theme with elements reminiscent of a ship's hull, sails and rigging. While much of the interior was stripped, it was decided to accentuate the original industrial look of the warehouse, retaining exposed steel beams and some pre-cast concrete panelling. The concrete floor was polished and ducting, cabling and other services left exposed to create an industrial look.
