Chelsea Sugar Refinery - Re-roof

The Chelsa Sugar Factory buildings are historical rated. Amstar had to be sympathic to the adjacent brick packing building which interfaced with the re-roof project and had to be protected and rebuilt in some areas to accommodate the new structural and roofing details.

The project involved the replacement of the original rough sawn kauri trusses and beams and aluminium roof cladding with new structural steel framing and Colorsteel roof covering some 3000m².

Amstar carried out the project in six stages to accommodate the operation and production of NZ Sugar whilst work was going on overhead. Effective work methodologies and specific health and safety planning ensured no interruption to NZ Sugar’s production.
